In the garden of Kulter
Holiday was still oozing through at Kulter#04 yesterday. With the garden more crowded than the gallery, it looked more like an alternative French campingsite than an art exhibition. Was this the Other Perfect World that the curator referred to?
Hell no... Than maybe it was the music bij Zea? The manic performance of singer, guitarist and electromeister Arnold de Boer projected images in my brain of an over-saturated information society. So much noise, So much colour, So many words.
Quote of the day: “I wanna be deleted, put me in a file and drag me to the bin”. A monument for not fitting in, for not accepting, for not taking for granted. I now understand why Arnold was asked to be the new lead singer of anarcho-world music collective The Ex.
Meanwhile the works were stuck on the walls, trying to communicate a new world. But how does our world look from an artist perspective? The works projected mainly a personal interest and fascination, without attributing any social issues. No visionaries please!, the work screamed in silence.
The arial pictures in press through paint by Aquil Copier, the beautifully crafted collages of different places, combined to one new by Bianca Runge , or the first person art-shooter, videogame by Michiel van der Zande. They all take the outside world and drag it in to appease and estheticize. Let’s make the ugly, beautiful again.
Kulter#04 was it’s own garden of Eden. Fiercely avoiding to bite the apple. Indeed Another Perfect World.
