Amsterdam has a great variety of small artists' initiatives, collectives and art spaces run by artists. It W139, founded by artists and once an anti-establishment squat itself, put a spotlight on artists' initiatives and collectives with this project.

During two weeks, W139 will be an open studio, a workspace. We invited 30 artists' initiatives to work here on 90 posters, to be hung in 'abri's', public advertisement-boards, all over town from 24 until 30 October. The posters will present the initiatives and their worlds and art world to the outside world.

During the work period, 13 until 29 September, W139 will be open for the public as usual. This way W139 will be a meeting place both for the initiatives, their public.

The posters will be presented on a festive opening on saturday 22 September and to be seen until 30 September
