Kitchen Shebeen! is part of the Kitchen139 project at W139 - a ten-day communal kitchen experiment. Each dinner will be prepared by a diversity of social and cultural initiatives that will cook for each other and for the guests.

In the last few months a host of new (self-organized) art initiatives have sprung up all over the Amsterdam landscape, complimenting an array of pre-existing spaces that in the years past have effectively contributed to the cultural and experimental art scene of Amsterdam.
As a means for trying to incite discussion between these spaces, the Danish artist Alexander Krone held an open invitation dinner in September at The Outpost (the production and gallery space his runs in Amsterdam-West).
Following the success of the first dinner grew The Amsterdam Dinner Movement: a monthly gathering for Amsterdam’s art initiatives, to be hosted in a combined effort, by a variety of different spaces across the city.
The idea is to create an informal exchange, where practical knowledge can be shared, whilst creating awareness for the ideas and activities of the other spaces.
For the second instalment of this project, Goleb hosted an event on Sunday 23rd October 2011 with a dinner and a public concert. Kitchen Shebeen is the third gathering.
